Podcast Takeover with Lucie Bohan (Part Two)

In part two of our podcast takeover episode our guest host, Lucie Bohan, invites me into an exploration of a topic she is currently fascinated with––horse-human bonds. 
 
She asks me to share an experience of what it looks like to build a relationship with a horse that has deepened over time and how that relationship unfolded over the years.
 
We also talk about the importance of being open enough to sit in and move through the uncomfortable experiences that come forward with our horses and how they are invitations for us to cultivate deeper trust in our relationships.
 
We speak about the beauty of how horses meet us exactly where we are and support us in the ways we need for our own personal development and growth.
 
And Lucie also asks me to talk about the co-creation process of Alchemy, a workshop inspired by my Kisses mare we ran in January to support people in uncovering the unique medicine of their journey with their horses. Which of course led into a discussion around the power of reflection and the healing that can come from moving through that process of contemplating our lives with horses.

Podcast Takeover with Lucie Bohan (Part One)

We are back with our third season of Sovereign Horse!
We decided to kick this season off by flipping the script and instead of having a guest on to be interviewed, we brought on a guest host to interview me. 
Our wonderful client, Lucie Bohan, has been asking the most fantastic questions since we met last year. And so it felt like a really fun idea to let her go wild on this episode and ask all the questions her heart desired! (Well maybe not, ALL of them…)
Lucie is new to the space of horses but is incredibly dedicated to learning as much as she can in the pursuit of holding partnerships with horses based in mutual respect and an honouring of their sentience and sovereignty. So I knew she would ask questions that would be of benefit to other members of our community as well.
The episode starts with a conversation around what horse medicine is and why horses can create such a beautiful space of healing that we often can’t access on our own. 
Lucie also asks about my transition from the conventional horse world into horse medicine, what my first experience with receiving horse medicine was like and how it impacted the way I moved forward with my horses and as an equine professional.
We also chat about my first experiences with animal communication, how I moved through my skepticism around its validity and what I mean when I say my horses guided me to something.
And that’s just scratching the surface of all the ground we cover in part one of this two-part conversation!

Reconciling Two Worlds: My Initiation into Horse Medicine

When I was initiated into the world of Horse Medicine, my life with horses was primarily focused around riding. 
 
I had a string of horses I rode and was preparing for the upcoming competition season. I was just getting a taste of my dream of being a professional trainer and rider. 
 
Any time I wasn’t at the barn with the horses in training was spent with my equine bodywork clients helping support their soundness and performance goals.
 
So when I experienced Horse Medicine for the first time, it changed everything I thought I knew about horses. And it made me realize there was something so much more profound available in my relationships with them. And I felt the deep call within me to explore those possibilities.
 
In this episode I share more about my journey of reconciling the two sides of my life with horses and how I integrated Horse Medicine into my everyday life with horses as well as putting it at the forefront of my business.

An Exploration of Forgiveness with Beth Porter

Forgiveness is such an important topic when we are exploring sovereignty for ourselves and our horses.
 
So many of us who partner, work and love horses have been burned by someone they trusted along their journey. This is the primary reason why so many people say “horse people are crazy” and label the entire industry as a dark place.
 
I’m no stranger to this myself. I’ve placed my trust in those who I felt had mine and my horses’ highest and best interests at heart, only to realize they had ulterior motives. 
 
And while I held onto the pain of those experiences and allowed them to shape the way I moved through the world for a very long time, it was my horses who finally made me realize that in order to allow better experiences into our lives, I needed to learn how to forgive those who had wronged us. 
 
And, perhaps more importantly, I needed to learn how to forgive myself for allowing us to be put in those situations in the first place.
 
Forgiveness is no small topic. So I brought in my friend Beth Porter, who is a intuitive healer and EPT practitioner, to help me explore what forgiveness is, why humans have such a hard time with it, and how we can move through the pain, shame and guilt that prevents us from being able to forgive and move forward.
 
Forgiveness is such a foundational component of our own personal healing and also of how we can build trust and connection with our equine partners. I am honoured to bring this episode to you alongside Beth, who offered so many insights on the process of forgiveness and is just such a beautiful human and soul who I am grateful to know.

Healing the Teacher/Mentor Wound

In this episode, we dive deeper into the discussion on how to become the antidote to what we no longer want to see in the world.

Energy Mastery and Becoming the Antidote with Pilar Lesko (Part One)

There are times––as seldom as they may be––where I find myself at a loss for words. This is one of those times.
 
How can I sum up such an epic conversation with a brilliant woman in a few short paragraphs? 
 
What I really want to say is, “Just trust me… you’ll want to listen to this episode.”

Pilar and I discuss how working with horses relates to working with Mother Earth and Creation itself and the disconnect for equine practitioners between the work they do that is often so esoteric and how to explain it and bring it forward in the modern world.
 
Pilar shares what it means to bring frequency first practices in our lives and businesses and how following this template allows us to collaborate with Creation and one another in the most authentic way for each of us.
 
We have a discussion of how domesticated animals are exploring freedom and how that differs from the ways in which humans and wild animals are exploring freedom.
 
All of that and I haven’t even mentioned our conversation on what Pilar refers to as the “fixing/healing loop” and how we can become the antidote to what we no longer want to see in the world.
